Hi Randi welcome. I don't like Randy spelled with an i either, but we just lost half of our active members in a drug and alcohol fueled crash, so we need you to fill out the ranks.

Technically no. I capitalize his title as a professional courtesy but that's about it.

Some here worship Mitt Romney. Close enough. Ok, that was sorta flip. But many here do worship Ronald Reagan.

Cranky? Hell, lady, how can you look at the state of the world and not be cranky? Well, not all the time. Sometimes I look out the window here in the mountains overlooking Boulder Creek, look at my redwoods, live oaks, the occasional deer and quail wandering mere feet from my door, and being cranky is the last thing on my mind!

I live in the real Boulder Creek. It's in Santa Cruz county California. Reagan was a great communicator but a great disappointment as prez.

Of course he was Unky Al. Compared to all the imaginary presidents with 80 inch skulls and talking penises, he was quite the let down.

"When Reagan took office, consumer inflation was at 13%, the prime lending rate was 20%, the top marginal income tax rate was 70%..."

"The 1981 tax cut slashed the top rate to 28%."

If only he could have used his talking penis to reason with those recalcitrant air traffic controllers unions...

You'd have had to cut govt spending by 40% at the end RR's 2nd term to get back to what it was at the start of his 1st. His early tax "cut" was bogus: in the same year, bracket creep raised tax revenues instead of cut them, and then there was that big increase in social security tax. The rest of his time in office, taxes went up, not down. Yeah, as they say he "made us feel good about ourselves" with blather about smaller govt all the while he was feeding it like a frog foi gras producer feeds his geese. Jebus, man, look past the happy façade.

He cut social crap and boosted defense. You know, what the constitution says you're supposed to spend it on. He took down the Soviet Empire. He taught those f*cking Genadans a thing or two about running a medical school in the Caribbean without a standing army with which to defend themselves.

    What's not to like?

So, what social crap did he cut? Boosted defense? You mean he spent lots on ridiculously expensive war prep? The Soviets were well along in their own self-destruction; Reagan had little to do with it. As for those nasty Grenadans, now they were a real *snicker* threat!
