Cardinal Dolan Mistakenly Took Obama Seriously
by Keith Koffler on March 31, 2012, 3:05 pm
The leader of the Catholic church in America clearly feels that, on the issue of forcing Catholic institutions to cover birth control, President Obama either misled him with assurances or reversed himself.
Take a look at this interview running today in the Wall Street Journal with a disappointed Cardinal Timothy Dolan, the archbishop of New York. Obama, as the author notes, sounds somewhat imperious and dismissive.

.... Hitler and Stalin, at their better moments, would just barely tolerate some churches remaining open, but would not tolerate any competition with the state in education, social services, and health care.
In clear violation of our First Amendment rights, Barack Obama – with his radical, pro abortion and extreme secularist agenda, now seems intent on following a similar path.
Now things have come to such a pass in America that this is a battle that we could lose, but before the awesome judgement seat of Almighty God this is not a war where any believing Catholic may remain neutral.
This fall, every practicing Catholic must vote, and must vote their Catholic consciences, or by the following fall our Catholic schools, our Catholic hospitals, our Catholic Newman Centers, all our public ministries -- only excepting our church buildings – could easily be shut down. Because no Catholic institution, under any circumstance, can ever cooperate with the instrinsic evil of killing innocent human life in the womb.
No Catholic ministry – and yes, Mr. President, for Catholics our schools and hospitals are ministries – can remain faithful to the Lordship of the Risen Christ and to his glorious Gospel of Life if they are forced to pay for abortions ....

Thanks for watching Genipero.
She said that all of her communication with the DOJ was verbal. Isn't that convenient?
-
As convenient as snake oil, Zonga. Verbal communications aren't worth the paper that they're not written on. Even a "civilian" like me knows that. The only contracts that actually stand are the one's in writing, with a valid signature. Sheesh, these people are disgusting!!!

EDITOR’S NOTE: The Diocese of Peoria on Thursday provided the following additional information regarding the April 14 homily of Bishop Daniel R. Jenky, CSC, at a Mass at St. Mary’s Cathedral during the annual “A Call to Catholic Men of Faith” event:
emphasis added
...The proposed legislation would require Catholic institutions to provide abortion inducing drugs, or other services considered immoral, as a condition of continuing services. This would apply not only to Church employee health plans but also healthcare delivery. Some beliefs are fundamental and non-negotiable to Catholics and there is no permissible compromise with an intrinsic evil...

Federal court issues injunction against HHS implementation of Obamacare contraception mandate
http://dailycaller.com/2012/11/29/fe...ption-mandate/
The order by the three-judge panel on the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals prohibits HHS from forcing O’Brien to comply with the mandate, until the court issues a substantive ruling on the matter. The injunction order is not a final determination on the merits of O’Brien’s case or the constitutionality of the mandate.
A federal district court judge in October dismissed O’Brien’s claim at the request of the Obama administration. The American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ), which is representing O’Brien, then appealed the ruling on his behalf to the 8th Circuit.
